What is a Portrait Party?
There are home parties for candles, jewelry, and baking supplies – now is your chance to host a home party that is truly unique! Quality professional portraits are something that your guests will treasure for a lifetime. Portrait parties are an opportunity to have professional portraits created within the comfort of your own home. As hostess, you will invite and schedule 6-12 of your friends or family members to attend your portrait party. Each guest gets a scheduled half hour appointment for their own private portrait session for the children or the whole family, with no session fee and no purchase required. During each session we will capture 10 poses of individuals, groups or a combination of both. When their session is over, they can stay to socialize and the kids can play.
How Does It Work?
As the host or hostess of a home portrait party, you invite friends and family members to your home for a special photo session. We ask for 6-12 guests. Your guests are welcome to bring their families, pets, props, etc. – anything or anyone whom they would like to be included in their portraits. Our mobile studio comes to your home, business, or community clubhouse for the event.
Ideas for Home Portrait Parties: Children, sibling groups, families, boudoir or glamour parties for a ladies night out, dress up or theme parties, or something else you dream up. Parties can be held at your home with a studio set up, at a park or outside. Really, it's up to you! Give me a call!
You may want to serve refreshments, play music, etc. in order to make your guests comfortable and promote a party atmosphere.
Host/Hostess Responsibilities
1. Personally invite 6-12 guests and their families to the location of your choice for the portrait party.
I have invitations that you may mail, however, you will need to speak to each guest personally to schedule the sitting. Please contact me for invitation options.
2. Schedule portrait sittings approximately 25 to 30 minutes apart for each guest (individuals or groups).
The portrait schedule is due to the photographer 1 week before your party.
Once we have scheduled your date:
Invite your guests as soon as possible, ideally at least 2 weeks in advance. I will provide paper invitations. It is your responsibility to get the invitations to your guests. Remember your earned credit increases with the number of guests photographed. Always over invite to account for those who will not be able to attend.
Schedule your guests. Keep in mind children’s nap and eating schedules when making their appointments. Sessions must be scheduled back-to-back, leaving no gaps in the schedule. If your final schedule has open times, you will need to reschedule guests to fill those slots. Don’t forget to schedule your family’s session!
Provide your guests with a party information packet as soon as they are confirmed. The information packet contains an order form and pricing information.
Reconfirm your guest’s attendance and scheduled session time 2-3 days prior to your party. Remind guests to be at your home and prepared for their session no less than 10 minutes prior to their scheduled time. This allows us to stay on schedule for every guest. Guests who are late may not be able to be photographed.
Provide The Girl Behind the Camera Photography with your guest list and schedule, including names and ages of those we will be photographing. This list should be emailed or faxed to me no later than 2 days prior to your party.
Determine what area will be used for the “studio” and where your guests will wait. These need to be separate areas to prevent unnecessary distractions during the sessions.
Party Day:
Prepare the areas you will be using for the studio and the guests. Furniture may need to be moved or removed to make adequate space. We will discuss this prior to your party.
Ensure that guests are directed to the studio area for their scheduled time. You may also need to help direct the prior session out of the studio area and back into the guest area.
Provide guests with ordering information. Stress that there will be a 2 week window in which all orders must be placed. You will only receive credit for orders turned in and paid for within that time. You will collect order forms and payment. The day following your 2 week ordering period, we will meet. At this time, we will determine your credit.
Prints will be delivered 3-4 weeks after we close your party.
